The Best Liver and Onions

Simple, cheap, and absolutely delicious – this liver and onions has all of the nutrients and none of the ick!

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb beef liver, trimmed and thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, to garnish

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the onions. Trim the vessels and membrane off the liver, then cut into thin, bite-sized strips.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the onions and garlic to the pan. Cook until soft, about 5-10 minutes.
  3. Add beef liver to pan with allspice, nutmeg, and chili powder. Mix all together and cook 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the apple cider vinegar, then stir and cook for a minute more. Turn off the heat and add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve garnished with fresh parsley.
